Yahoo Sport UK will bring football fans closer to the 24 teams taking place in the Women’s World Cup this summer over seven rounds with a weekly video series presented by sports journalist and broadcaster Lynsey Hipgrave.

Yahoo Sport Presents: The Football Show 24/7 will explore the action in France from the perspective of pros and fans with England legend and record caps holder Fara Williams and former West Ham United player, Mollie Kmita also joining Lynsey on the sofa. Yahoo Sport Presents: The Football Show 24/7 broadcasts weekly throughout the tournament live from Verizon Media’s new state of the art UK studio.

With a focus on keeping gender diversity in sports top of the agenda, Williams will dissect the performances of the Lionesses, as well as all the favourite teams, providing insight into the pressures these women face at the highest level. Mollie will be following the tournament as an avid fan, and her infectious enthusiasm for the sport she loves is exactly why women’s football continues to grow in popularity. Whilst analysing the key games, players and talking points during the tournament, the pair will also touch on deeper issues within sport surrounding gender. Yahoo Sport UK will also be providing the latest news, player profiles and opinion pieces during the tournament throughout the day every day on a specially curated Women’s World Cup section on Yahoo Sport UK.

Over the past year Yahoo Sport UK has been investing heavily in original programming with video series including Yahoo Sport Presents: The Football Show, which was presented by Hipgrave and broadcaster Toby Tarrant and followed the 2018/2019 football season, including the Women’s Super League. Yahoo Sport also launched a 2018 World Cup series called The 32, with both shows attracting sponsorship. Last week Yahoo Sport UK also premiered a weekly series focused around the Cricket World Cup with Tarrant back on the sofa to present the show.

Raj Mannick, Head of Sport, Yahoo UK, said “Women’s football has grown in popularity significantly in the last five years, attracting more commercial interest from brands and sponsors along the way. This will be the most watched Women’s World Cup in history and having tracked the journey of many Lionesses this season already through The Football Show, it’s only fitting that Yahoo Sport is there to cheer the team on. We are thrilled to have such incredible talent joining Yahoo Sport Presents: The Football Show 24/7 as we continue to push diversity in sport.”

Yahoo Sport Presents: The Football Show 24/7 will be series produced by Jayne Hancock, with Cal Lewis and Daniela Devine as additional producers.
