Broadcast TV is losing popularity with the younger generation of millennials in the US (18-34 year olds), according to new research.
The study, from The New York Times found that among the online video users surveyed, 34% of Millennials (18-34) reported watching mostly online video or no broadcast TV, compared to 20% of Gen X (35-49) respondents and 10% of Boomers (50+).
Technology blog Poynter posted a collection of slides from the survey, which Brian Brett, the NYT’s director of customer research, will be presenting at a conference in Las Vegas Thursday.
The study surveyed more than 4,000 online video viewers.
