TV is moving away from being a shared experience in front of one screen, as the UK becomes a nation of couch, bed and even bathroom potatoes, according to new research looking into video viewing around the home.
The research, from Videology, also found that almost half (49 percent) will ‘always’ or ‘often’ watch TV and video in another room to other people and that 34 percent are accessing video on as many as eight screens around the home.
Drawing on survey findings from 2,283 U.K. respondents, key findings from the infographic below include:
– TV is bonding time. 52 percent will normally watch TV with at least one person
– Take it to the bedroom. Over two thirds watch video most often in bed
– Once screen isn’t enough. 60 percent use a second screen while watching TV
– We are couch potatoes. Over 50 percent say sitting on a couch or lounging in a recliner as the ideal way to watch TV and video at home
