Baidu the Chinese search giant has posted net profits of 2.77bn yuan ($436m) for Q2, up from 1.63bn yuan in the same period last year. Revenues were up 60% and reached 5.46bn yuan ($858.8m).
Margins were also up as revenue per online marketing customer grew 34.8% to 15,500 yuan ($2,440). The firm revealed that it had 352,000 active customers during the quarter.
The company remains the undisputed search leader in China and accounts for 78.6% of the country’s entire search revenues; conversely Google trails far behind, with only a 15.7% share.
Baidu predicts that Q3 revenues will come in between 6.25bn yuan ($983m) and 6.41bn ($1.01bn) – equivalent to year-on-year growth between 49.6% and 53.5%.
