Walmart has claimed that Thanksgiving marked record sales for its website, with its revenues beginning to match Amazon. Walmart issued the statement Friday morning describing its “best ever” Black Friday.

“When we talk about best Black Friday events ever, we’re talking about the ones on Thursday Night we had, and Friday morning as well,” Walmart spokesperson Kory Lundberg said.
Actual sales numbers will be released in Walmart’s quarterly sales report, but the retail giant reported “nearly 10 million register transactions” between 8 p.m. and midnight on Thanksgiving.
“The work of our associates is even more impressive when you consider they served approximately 22 million customers on Thursday,” said president and CEO Bill Simon.
Mobile shopping also did well for Walmart. Cyber Monday saw a 280% increase in online traffic coming from Walmart’s Mobile Apps, and a 242% increase in traffic from our apps over Thanksgiving Weekend. And, Pay with Cash usage more than doubled over Thanksgiving Weekend.
The best-selling items during the Walmart Cyber Monday 2012 sale included:
• Double Power T-711 with WiFi Touchscreen Tablet PC
• Garmin nuvi 50 5” Portable GPS
• Element 32” Class LCD 1080p HDTV
• XBOX 360 4GB Console with Skylanders Starter Kit and Exclusive Gill Grunt Character
• 20” Huffy Sea Star Girls Bike (Pink) and Boys Bike (Black)
The news comes amid pressure from a wave of nationwide labour actions against the company.
