Companies are increasingly relying on social media to keep consumer’s attention and loyalty online. This infographic shows how consumers are using social media to interact with brands. eCircle in partnership with Mediacom Science conducted the first European Social Media and Email Marketing Study, surveying 5,000 European consumers of which 1,000 were from the UK) to reveal how they interact with brands via email and social media services.
The study is the first of its kind, investigating who is using different social networks and what motivates them to publish and share information.
Here, rather than attempting to decide which is the best, most influential or effective marketing channel, marketers need to understand why people are behaving a certain way via social networks and email.
Parts 1 and 2 looks at consumers and part 3 analysed 500 decision-making marketers.
Here are some of the key points from the study:
• 95% of consumers check their emails daily and 73% of them can be reached through social networks
• 75% of respondents use email to receive notifications from social networks
• Twitter has the highest sharing rate of branded messages and content (18%)
• On average, each shared message reaches 77 friends
• A serious gap exists between what consumers want and what the marketers deliver
• Word of mouth is the key to viral marketing
See the infographic below for the complete details of the study.
