UK advertisers are spending more on search advertising and are generating better results according to new research.
The latest quarterly analysis of UK paid search advertising by digital marketing technology company, Kenshoo reveals that quarterly search advertising spend has increased by 50% year-on-year and total search advertising clicks have increased by 25% year-on-year.
“Our data indicates that UK click through rates have increased 19% quarter-on-quarter, indicating that UK paid search advertisers are expanding their reach through relevant and engaging ad copy,” said Josh Dreller, Director of Marketing Research, Kenshoo.
Dreller also explained that the true impact of Google’s Enhanced Campaigns update, which came into effect in July, is yet to be fully understood:
“Advertisers should be closely monitoring cost-per-click and click-through rates for their paid search campaigns following the Enhanced Campaigns global migration on July 22nd. While analysing this quarter’s data, it became clear that these metrics dramatically varied from advertiser to advertiser. Although general industry trends can help set benchmarks on the health of the industry, individual advertisers need to evaluate their own data sets in order to build actionable insights.”
Enhanced Campaigns simplify the process of creating Google AdWords campaigns so that advertisers no longer run separate campaigns targeting desktops, tablets and mobiles – all devices can now be served with ads within the same campaign.
