Yahoo has struck a deal with Twitter to introduce tweets into its users tailored newsfeeds.
In a blog post, the company’s CEO Marissa Mayer confirmed the move, saying that it confirms the importance of tweets among the everyday mix of news sources, extending the reach of Twitter messages.
“Updates direct from politicians, celebrities, media outlets, and other publishers have become an important source of real-time news and information,” Mayer said.
“With this greater breadth of compelling content, we’re excited to give our users even more opportunities to learn and connect.”
“Users now also have an easy way to discover relevant and interesting people and publishers to follow on Twitter, personalised to their interests and preferences.”
The service is currently available in the US. A UK launch for the service is yet to be confirmed.
