LinkedIn has added a raft of Facebook-style tools to its ‘Influencer’ platform, as the business-based social network looks to raise its profile as a publishing platform.
The move lets users ‘like’ and comment on long-form posts uploaded by the social network’s chosen industry leaders.
The platform has featured a number of high-profile commenters including Barack Obama, Bill Gates and Richard Branson, adding some considerable heft to LinkedIn’s image as a professional and high value corporate social network.
As with regular LinkedIn status updates, users can now comment on individual Influencer posts and reply directly to messages already left by other users.
Comments can also mention other LinkedIn users – similar to tagging Facebook friends or mentioning a Twitter handle – thereby triggering a new notification in the recipient’s account.
