The mobile device use survey of US farmers and ranchers conducted by Fastline found that 24.6% of 1000+ acre farmers with a smartphone are accessing the social media website, Facebook.com on their phones while on farm equipment.
The study also revealed that 48.46% are conducting equipment research on their smartphones while operating a piece of equipment.
The top two uses of a smartphone while operating agriculture equipment are “talking on the phone” (74.62%) and “weather” (73.08%).
The mobile device use survey was conducted between July 3 and August 6, 2013 and was sent to a portion of the approximate 177,000 farmers and ranchers in Fastline’s e-mailable database. These survey results represent a confidence level of 95% at a 5% margin of error.
As of the time of this report, Fastline’s Facebook and other social media efforts reach nearly 100,000 people in the agriculture community and continues to grow daily. Agriculture companies can tap into these qualified audiences through participation in Fastline’s featured item program that promotes specific items and announcements to social media audiences as an added value service.

Fastline delivers its “Big Ag” publication directly to nearly 100,000 producers with 1000 or more acres of farmland.
