PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew’s Super bowl ad was certainly one of the strangest of the year, but, with 27 million YouTube views, it’s “PuppyMonkeyBaby” hybrid was also one of the most successful.


In the commercial, created by BBDO New York, three guys chill on a couch, when the diapered creature suddenly appears with a bucket full of the Kickstart, shaking a rattle, and chanting “puppy-monkey-baby.” It
The “Puppybabymonkey” spot introduces a new flavor lineup that includes Midnight Grape, Watermelon, Blueberry Pomegranate and Blood Orange and ends with the message, “Three awesome things combined.” The ad kicks off a new campaign, “It All Starts With a Kick,” which will also include digital, social and out-of-home advertising.
