Apple is rumoured to be working on a budget version of its iPhone device to rival Android in the low-cost smartphone market. These new pictures, leaked last week, suggest that the new iPhones will come in multiple colours and a plastic build for the first time.

The pictures, from French technology website Nowhereelse.fr, purportedly show actual photos (not computer renderings) of 4 prototype iPhones in development.
Featuring a much more rounded design than the current iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, the budget iPhone seems to take some design hues from the iPhone 3GS but with a flatter back.
The mooted iPhone mini is expected to be a mid-market offering to offer a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 5. It is widely anticipated to arrive in six to eight colours if and when it eventually launches.
Apple currently sells the iPod Touch in five colors: yellow, red, white, blue and black. The iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle come in seven colors: blue, green, yellow, red, pink, gray and black. The company also sells (Product) Red versions of these devices to support the Global Fund, which raises money to fight AIDS in Africa.
To lower costs, Apple is predicted to abandon the brushed aluminium body of the iPhone 5 in favour of a hard, slightly shiny plastic or polycarbonate body, perhaps similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4.
