Facebook: 62% of all ad revenues driven by mobile growth

Mobile advertising grew to 62% of all Facebook’s ad revenues in Q2 (from 41% in 2013) as the company continued to develop and enhance its mobile platform. Year-on-year, profits for Q2 rose 138% to $791m (£464m) as total revenues from advertising grew 67% to reach $2.68bn (£1.58bn).


Total revenues for the quarter reached $2.91bn (up 61% over the $1.81bn reported in Q2 2013) as the number of monthly active users grew to 1.32bn (up 14% year-on-year).
Facebook is judged to have taken 5.8% of all global digital ad revenues in 2013, up 4.1% from 2012 (source: eMarketer). This share is expected to reach 8% by the end of 2014. Facebook’s share of global mobile adspend is forecast to hit 22.3% in 2014 (from 17.77% in 2013).
Facebook’s total share of the digital ad market is expected to reach £7.25bn in 2014 (totalling 7.3%) up from £6.3bn in 2013 (5.9%).
