Mobile use in the travel sector is booming, with 64% of mobile owners searching for holiday sites via a mobile device compared to 58% in a desktop environment. Mobile marketing agency, Yodel Mobile, has produced infographic which details how mobile is used by consumers for the travel sector.


Key findings include:
• 64% of mobile owners search for holiday sites via a mobile device compared to 58% in a desk top environment
• 53% of people searching on a tablet make a purchase compared to 41% on a smartphone
Travel company winners and losers
• British Airways is the top ranking mobile site with 936,000 visits per month (Nov 2013)
• easy Jet comes in second with 825,000 visits easily beating its budget rivals Ryan Air (in third place with 372,000 visits)
Commenting on the findings, Mick Rigby, Yodel CEO said: “Mobile helps travel brands engage consumers, wherever they are, whenever they want to browse, research and purchase holidays, flights and more. Since the mobile device now outstrips searches in a desktop environment its vital to analyse this user behaviour so that techniques can be used to optimise mobile marketing campaigns, build an integrated approach and ultimately drive revenue.”
