Apple UK has unveiled pricing details for a SIM-free iPhone 4 direct from its Apple Store and online, with prices starting from £499. The web pages on Apple’s site that displayed the prices are now unavailable, possibly owing to the high demand from Apple fans, but the details have been widely reported this morning.
The 16GB model will cost £499, while the 32GB model will cost £599. Unlike previous models, the iPhone 4 will function only with a micro-SIM, so customers purchasing the phone directly from Apple will have to buy a new SIM card.

The 16GB version of the iPhone 4 can be pre-ordered from the Apple UK website from Tuesday, though won’t be officially launched until 24 June.
There were no prices available for the white edition of the iPhone, and speculation is rife that it will not be available to pre-order in the UK or US.
The UK’s major network operators have yet to unveil tariffs for the device, although potential prices from Vodafone were leaked yesterday after a ‘test page’ was spotted.
Prices start at £189 for the 16GB version and £280 for the 32GB version on a 24-month contract, according to the test page.
O2, Orange and Three are all expected to announce handset and tariff prices today, as pre-orders are now being taken. There is still no word on T-Mobile’s plans.
