IPC Media has sold its popular internet magazine Web User to Dennis Publishing, for an undisclosed sum. The move comes as part of the review of IPC Media’s niche and specialist titles.
Web User is the UK’s best-selling internet magazine, offering internet news, reviews and computing advice, alongside a large number of user generated forums. The deal sees Dennis acquire the brand – currently published within the IPC Inspire portfolio – with immediate effect. There will be no interruption to the publishing schedule of the title.

Dennis Publishing has a roster of over 50 magazines, digital magazines, websites and mobile sites in the UK and offices in New York, Sydney and New Delhi.
Commenting on the deal, Dennis Publishing chief executive James Tye said: “Web User has a distinctive style and a strong consumer voice and will make a superb addition to our technology portfolio. This is now the fifth acquisition we have made in the last 18 months and underlines our commitment to continue to grow the company, both in print, online and the digital magazine space.”
IPC Inspire managing director Paul Williams added: “As publisher of a number of leading computing titles, Dennis is a great new home for Web User. I would personally like to thank the Web User team for continuing to do a fantastic job over the course of the strategic review and acquisition negotiations, and wish them all the very best for the future.”
