New data from ComScore shows that MySpace’s UK audience fell 49% during the last year. Unique user numbers were down from 6.5m in May 2009 to only 3.3m in May of this year.

In contrast Facebook has now surpassed the 500m membership barrier reported a few days ago, with one in every twelve people in the world now using the site.
According to ComScore Facebook was used by 30.4m people in the UK (79% of the population). Usage of the site grew 28% in the last year, compared to an overall increase in the number of people using social networking sites of 13%. ComScore also found that 90% of the 38.2m internet users in the UK aged 15 and over used a social media in May 2010.
