Facebook is updating its profile page, claiming the changes will make it easier for users to ‘tell their story’ to their friend on the social network. The profile now begins with a quick overview of basic information such as where the user is from, where they went to school and where they work.
Facebook claims the new profile will allow users to introduce themselves via typical ‘conversation starters’ they’d use with someone they have just met. The new-look profile will also include a row of recently tagged photos of the user. The tabs have also been moved to the left of the site, under the profile picture, which remains unaffected in the change, though it looks like photos are a prime concern of the redesign.

Other features include:
Featured friends. Users can now highlight the friends who are important, such as family, best friends or teammates. Create new groups of friends, or feature existing friends lists.
New experiences. The profile also gives new ways to share interests and activities. Users can list projects they worked on at their job, classes taken in school and favourite musicians and sports teams. Users can also share their life philosophy by connecting to the religions, political affiliations and people they follow and admire. All interests and experiences are now represented with images.
Improved photos and friends pages. A new “infinite scroll” feature makes it faster to browse all photos. The Friends page now allows users to quickly find people, and search by name, hometown, school or a number of other dimensions.
