Facebook has integrated Skype video calls into its system, as the social network looks to expand its reach across new platforms. The new service gives users a new option to message a friend on Facebook Chat with Skype video, provided their Facebook Chat status is set to ‘online’. The tool requires an app installation, which is available for free. Users can also pull info from their News Feed, comment and Like within the Facebook/Skype interface.

In addition, users can even add multiple people into their chat, and it takes into account their browser size.
The service will be available in 70 different languages for all of Facebook’s 750 million users.
Neil Stevens, Vice President and General Manager for Consumer at Skype, said: “The partnership with Facebook makes fantastic business sense for Skype and gives us an unprecedented opportunity to offer Skype’s voice and video calling products to more than 750 million active users on Facebook.
“Together, we’ve collaborated to create a great user experience — with Skype providing an optimized version of its software and Facebook embedding the Skype calling experience deeply into their site, allowing Facebook users to enjoy the many benefits of video calling.”
