Google is set to bring its web TV service to the UK before February next year, the company has announced. Launched earlier this year in the US, Google TV lets viewers switch between television and the web on the same set. UK viewers will have to buy a Google TV set top box, or special TVs with the service built in. Viewers can watch material from catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Player on their main TV screen.

Users can also search all of the content on the TV and the internet by using a single click ,and smartphones and iPhones can be used instead of a remote control top change channels. People will even be able to use their own voice to conduct searches.
The service also has a special version of YouTube in high definition.
Google’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt will outline the plans when he gives this year’s MacTaggart lecture at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
