More than 90% employers use social networking sites to screen prospective employees, according to new research. The study, from Reppler & Lab42, found that only 5% don’t use social networking sites for screening prospective employees. Though LinkedIn is a professional social network during the hiring process only 48% use it to screen candidates. Facebook being most popular with 76% followed by Twitter 53%.

If 69% have rejected candidates basis what they have seen on social networking sites, 68% have also hired because of what they saw on the social networking sites.
