MySpace is delaying its planned relaunch until next month, following its acquisition in June for $35m by Specific Media and singer Justin Timberlake. Specific Media had plans to unveil the website’s new vision, which was rumored to be in the realm of music and entertainment (with some sort of possible talent show element), at an exclusive summer news conference.

The Wall Street Journal reports that changes in Myspace have been more “incremental” than Specific Media and Justin Timberlake (who’s leading the site’s creative direction) had thought.
Instead, they have decided to push the event back until next month and the coming-out party will be held during Madison Avenue’s “Advertising Week” conference in New York. Myspace will host an opening night concert.
According to a Myspace spokeswoman, the company is “looking forward to share our learnings and initial plans for Myspace.”
Myspace only attracted 33.1 million unique visits from U.S. users in August, marking a 44% drop from last year.
