Sky has launched a live television iPhone application letting users watch live news and sport, including live premiership matches, TV coverage via their mobiles. The Sky Mobile TV App uses a WiFi internet connection to stream channels including Sky Sports, Sky Sports News, Sky News, ESPN and At The Races. It is free to browse the schedule and programme guide on the Sky mobile service but a subscription to watch live television will cost £6 a month.

The launch follows the success of other Sky Apps which have been downloaded more than a million times.
“Sky Mobile TV offers more choice, control and flexibility for customers ensuring they can access the content they want, at a time that’s convenient to them, on the screen of their choosing,” David Gibbs, general manager for mobile at Sky said.
The Barclays Premier League, Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League and Coca Cola Football League games are among the sports events which will be available, as well as breaking news.
