Twitter is reportedly in the process of raising more venture capital which will value the two-year-old business at $1bn (£600m). The Telegraph reports that Insight Venture Partners is believed to be the lead investor in the $50m funding round. Evan Williams, co-founder of Twitter, is reported to have revealed the deal in a company-wide meeting earlier this week. Back in February this year, Twitter raised $35m from venture capital firms led by Benchmark Capital and Institutional Venture Partners. This valued the firm at $250m valuation, the potential new cash injection values Twitter at $1bn, meaning the company has quadrupled its valuation in the past eight months.
