Vodafone has launched a new service that lets its customers charge their phones in the back of select London taxi cabs, and even pay cabbies via SMS. Vodafone has teamed up with Taxis in London for the SMS taxi payment scheme, to create their own branded ‘wrapped’ vehicles. 2000 ‘wrapped’ taxis are being introduced to the capital this week, riding on the nation’s renewed patriotic sentiment following the Royal Wedding, by adorning their taxi fleet with Union Jacks.

Vodafone customers will have to register for the service that will let them pay for journeys with their phones.
“We are committed to offering London the best possible network,” commented Vodafone’s UK Chief Executive, Guy Laurence. “We have already made hundreds of improvements to increase coverage, capacity and reliability to ensure Londoners can always stay in touch with friends and family.
“Now with our fantastic fleet of Union Jack cabs and their on-board chargers which anyone can use, all Londoners will be able to see our continuing commitment to the capital.”
