Microsoft’s next-generation console, the Xbox One, has gone on sale in the UK as the pre-Christmas battle with Sony’s Playstation 4 gets underway.
Watch this report from the BBC below:
The Xbox One features a 500GB hard drive, an eight-core processor and an improved version of Microsoft’s Kinect motion-control system able to track and interpret players’ gestures and movements.
Microsoft also has ambitions for its console to act as a hub for anything seen on a TV, and the device can act as a controller for cable and satellite set-top boxes. Microsoft’s Skype net calling system is also integrated into the device.
Sony’s next-gen console, due out in the UK next week, offers similar technical specifications to the Xbox; it costs eighty pounds less but comes without a motion controller.
The PS4 was released in America on November 15 and notched up sales of more than a million on its first day.
Sony’s console is released in the UK on November 29.
